Possum Palace

About this site

about the design

The text on this site is mostly a collection of text files on my hard drive, written in ReStructuredText. These files live in a git repository on my laptop hard-drive or wherever else I want them, and are synchronised with another repository at my webhost, whence you see them. Some other content comes in from other sites, or will do when I get around to it, and the whole mess is stitched together with Sphinx. This doesn’t stop me from writing when I’m offline; I spend a lot of my time in parts of the world without wireless cafes. Or telephones, for that matter. And even when I am not in such a place, I like pretending I am so that you will all leave me alone because the fame gets me down.

The code for this site will be made open source, as soon as I have purged the code repository of messiness and passwords; a thousand pardons, but I did not know git at all at the start of this project, and that’s a burden that i do not need to inflict upon the world.

about the content

This is part blog, and part notebook — which is to say: Entries are either news-related or regularly updated or both; browse them as you please.

no, but how about this “possum palace” business?

Oh, that. The name. Yes, ‘the possum palace’ was a many things - a short lived production company i was part of, a diabolical secret experiment in wildlife governance by dark marsupial forces, a community site for Canberra-based artists. None of those concern us any longer. It must be sufficient for now that I have a truckload of business cards with that domain printed on them and I won’t change until they are all gone. If this pains you, buy me a coffee, let us exchange cards, and thus we can hasten the day when i choose something hopefully less unnerving, such as “bilbyboudoir”.

about the author

Hi, my name is dan, and I leave as much mess around the internet as most these days. Pardon the excessive number of aliases. I keep my music on Soundcloud my links on Delicious, my photos on Flickr, my listening habits on last.fm my location on Dopplr, my references on CiteULike, and my exhibitionism on facebook, random crap on Twitter and LinkedIn. Everything else, plus still more surplus exhibitionism, goes right on this site.
